View Full Message Headers

The full message headers of an email will provide our support teams with an insight into the path that an email took. It can be helpful to supply us these details of delayed or bounced messages so that we can diagnose the issue further.

Microsoft Outlook Express

  1. Inside the Inbox right-click on the email message. A context menu will appear. From this menu select Properties.
  2. A new window will pop-up. Select the Details tab.
  3. The details screen will show the full headers.
  4. Using the mouse, click and highlight the header text, then copy it to the clipboard by right-clicking and selecting Copy (or press Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C).
  5. You can then paste (Ctrl-V) the full message header to an email and send to support for further investigations.

Microsoft Outlook 2000

  1. Right-click the message without opening it, then click “Options” from the drop-down menu.
  2. A box called “Message Options” pops up.
  3. Near the bottom of the box you’ll see a text area titled “Internet headers”.
  4. Using the mouse, click and highlight the header text, then copy it to the clipboard by right-clicking and selecting Copy (or press Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C).
  5. You can then paste (Ctrl-V) the full message header to an email and send to support for further investigations.

Microsoft Outlook 2007

  1. Open the email in a new window by double-clicking it.
  2. Click the expansion button in the lower right corner of the Options toolbar box.
  3. The box by default holds the Follow Up and Mark as Unread buttons.
  4. Find the headers under Internet headers:.
  5. Right Click in the Text Box and Select ‘Select All’
  6. Right Click in the Text Box and Select ‘Copy’
  7. Create a New Message
  8. Click into the Message Area and Right Click and Select ‘Paste’
  9. send the message to support

Microsoft Outlook 2010

  1. Open the email in a new window by double-clicking it.
  2. Click the expansion button in the lower right corner of the Tags toolbar box.

The Bat! V4

  1. Select the message in question.
  2. Click on the “Specials” menu.
  3. Select “View Source”.
  4. Highlight, copy and paste everything from the “Message Source” window (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C) and send to support for further investigations.

Thunderbird

  1. Select the message in question.
  2. Click on the “View” menu at the top of the screen.
  3. Select “Message Source”.
  4. Highlight, copy and paste everything from the “Message Source” window (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C) and send to support for further investigations.

MAC Mail

  1. Open the ‘In’ mailbox if it isn’t already open (Mailbox pull-down menu -> Show -> In OR press command-1 on the keyboard ).
  2. Click on the message for which you want to see the full header information.
  3. Click the View pull-down menu, and then choose Message and Long Headers, OR press Command-Shift-H on the keyboard.
  4. Click the Forward button, OR click the Message pull-down menu and choose Forward Message, OR press command-shift-f on the keyboard.
  5. Fill in the address

Entourage

  1. After clicking on the message, select “Source” from the View menu.
  2. A new window will open showing the full message source with complete headers.
  3. Copy and paste this into an email to support for further investigations.

Entourage 2008 for MAC

  1. Open the email in a new window by double-clicking it.
  2. Select Message from the top Menu Bar
  3. towards the Bottom of the list select Internet Headers
  4. A new window pops up
  5. Hold CTRL and Click in the Text Box and Select ‘Select All’
  6. Hold CTRL and Click in the Text Box and Select ‘Copy’
  7. Create a New Message
  8. Click into the Message Area and CTRL and Click and Select ‘Paste’
  9. send the message to support
